WYOMING, MI - The Trine University men's soccer team captured its first win of the season with a 5-0 shutout against Grace Christian University at Velting Field in Wyoming, MI.

Trine (1-0) scored two goals in the first half that included a marker at the 17:38 minute mark when junior Kaliel Alisaid scored his first goal as a member of the Thunder with a helper from freshman Alhusain Yahya.

The difference remained at a goal until late in the period when senior Trevor Towghi found the back of the net on an unassisted goal during the 44th minute and increased the Trine advantage to 2-0 at the half.

Past the midway point of the second period, Trine added to its lead when freshman Tyler Murphy got into the scoring column with his first collegiate goal with under 11 minutes to go to make it a 3-0 advantage.

Murphy then went on to add an assist on Trine's next goal as teammate, sophomore Colin Nicoski, continued to pad the lead with another score for the Thunder during the 84th minute that resulted in a 4-0 edge.

The final goal of the afternoon came off the foot of freshman Alhasan Yahya a little over three minutes after the Nicoski goal as Trine went on to rout Grace Christian by the final of 5-0.

Freshman goalkeeper Troy Saylor made the most of his first collegiate start in net by shutting out the Tigers and stopped all four shots he faced in 90 minutes.

Trine will next travel to Adrian, MI for a non-conference matchup against Adrian College on Saturday, Sept. 19th. The game is set to begin at noon.
