Trine Men's Golf Takes Third at Final MIAA Jamboree

The Trine University men's golf team placed third at the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree event of the fall season that was hosted by Kalamazoo (Mich.) College at the Kalamazoo Country Club.

Trine finished with a team score of 301 strokes and finished two shots back of event champion Hope (Mich.) College who carded a cumulative total of 299 strokes. Host school Kalamazoo finished second at an even 300 strokes.

The Thunder had three individuals shoot a round of 75 to place in a tie for seventh place among the field. They included: seniors Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman), Carlos Coeto (Bernardo, Mexico) and freshman Mitch Lowney (Fenton, Mich./Clarkston Everest).

Senior Grant Brettnacher (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) and junior Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) also both finished in the top-15 with Brettnacher placing in a tie for 13th after carding a round of 76 strokes. Ruge finished one shot back with a score of 77 strokes which was good enough to put him in a tie for 15th.

Competing as an individual was senior Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) and fired a single-round of 86 strokes.

Trine will wrap-up the fall season with the two-day MIAA Championship on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 4-5. This season's championship will be held at the Michigan State Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. The first round on Friday is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
