Rain Damages Southeast Michigan Gas Station Awning
By: Sheila M McCrea - Friday, June 21, 2019

The rain that moved through the listening area is being blamed for an incident at the Mendon, Michigan Shell Station.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department says the awning over the gas pumps at the station came down around 8:45 AM Thursday. It's believed that a drain on the awning became plugged, which caused water to accumulate on top and eventually forced the awning to come down.

No one was injured in the incident.

Station employees told WBET that the station is open, but is not selling gasoline. We contacted the Walters Dimmick corporate offices for more information but have not heard back from company officials.
