Saturday, May 25, 2019

SHERWOOD, OH - An investigation is underway after a body was found in the Maumee River in Northwest Ohio. According to the Defiance County Sheriff's Office, a passerby discovered the body near the Cecil Bridge Friday afternoon just after 4 p.m.

Reports indicate the body of a white man was pulled from the rive near State Route 127 in Sherwood about an hour after the initial report. Authorities say the body did not match any descriptions of reported missing persons in Defiance or Paulding County.

The Lucas County Coroner's Office is conducting an autopsy.

If anyone has information that might help identify the man, they are asked to call the Defiance County Sheriff's Office at 419.781.1155.

Investigators say with high water, the body could have even came to the waterway from Allen County, Indiana, specifically the Fort Wayne area.
