Indiana State Police Arrest Man That Flees, Crashes, And Runs
Thursday, February 21, 2019

Wednesday afternoon the Indiana State Police arrested a man that led them on a pursuit on the Indiana Toll Road before crashing and then fleeing on foot.

A pair of ISP Troopers Around attempted to stop a Jeep for a traffic violation as it traveled eastbound near the 95.4 mile marker, just west of the County Road 17 exit in Elkhart County. Once Troopers activated their lights on their fully marked police car, the Jeep moved to the right, but instead of stopping, sped off and continued eastbound.

Investigators say the Jeep continued eastbound reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The Jeep attempted to exit near Bristol, but was going too fast for the ramp and ended up driving down an embankment and crashing into a tree line.

The driver, identified as Waylon Weaver, age 32 of Middlebury, got out of the Jeep and fled on foot. Troopers caught up to Weaver and safely took him into custody after he fell in a sand pit.

Weaver faces preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Resisting Law Enforcement With a Vehicle, Criminal Recklessness, Reckless Driving, and an active warrant out of Elkhart County.
