Current Angola Mayor Richard Hickman has decided to run for an unprecedented fifth full term in office.

Hickman has served the City of Angola for 17 years as mayor. He came into office in 2001 after the death of Mayor Bill Selman.

If elected as mayor again, Hickman will continue to be the longest-serving tenure as mayor in Angola history.

So far only one GOP candidate has file for the May Primary, and that is Joe Hysong. Hysong is presently the Republican At-Large Councilman for the city. He filed on Wednesday (1/9/19) of this last week.

As of Friday just before 2 p.m., no one other than Hickman and Hysong have filed under either party for the mayor's seat.
