A warming trend is in store this weekend into early next week with high temperatures in the middle to upper 80s Sunday and Monday and peak afternoon heat indices from the upper 80s to lower 90s.

The National Weather Service says chances of showers and thunderstorms will increase from west to east late Sunday afternoon, and especially Sunday night through Monday night. A few strong storms are possible on Monday.

Forecasters say conditions will dry out by the middle of next week with another extended period of dry weather anticipated.
