Third Steuben County Jury Trial In Eight Days Ends With Guilty Verdict

ANGOLA, IN - There was another guilty verdict handed out this week in Steuben Count Superior Court. 

On Thursday afternoon, a jury found 55-year-old Derrick Carter guilty of Battery Resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury, a Level 6 Felony.

The Defendant chose to act as his own attorney at trial.  The State’s case was presented by Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys, Ryan Frey and David Brown. 

The 6-person jury returned its guilty verdict after less than fifteen (15) minutes of deliberations. Carter is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on October 18, and faces a maximum possible sentence of 2 ½ years.

This is the 3rd jury trial Steuben County has had in the last 8 days.  All of them resulted in guilty verdicts.
