Preliminary Unemployment Numbers For July Show Increases In Northeast Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Unemployment numbers are starting to roll out from July.

Steuben County is ranked as one of the second lowest unemployment rates in Indiana at 2.5% for July. Steuben hits second place along with Dubois, Ohio and Wells counties.

In preliminary data released Monday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, only Boone County northwest of Marion County ranked higher, at 2.4%.

LaGrange was at 2.7%, DeKalb was 2.9%, and Noble lagged at 3.4% in the other are Northeast Indiana counties.

Allen County was at 3.3%, while Whitley County was at 2.7%.

Most Northeast Indiana counties' unemployment rates were relatively unchanged from a year ago. LaGrange County was nearly a percentage-point higher.

The state rate was at 3.5% overall, but the seasonably adjusted, the state was at 2.6%.
