Heat Advisory In Effect For Area On Tuesday
By: Mike Stiles - Tuesday, June 21, 2022

Warm weather forecast for today has prompted a weather advisory.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in effect from 12 PM until 8 PM today.

The advisory is in effect for St. Joseph, Branch, Cass and Hillsdale Counties in Michigan; along with LaGrange, Elkhart, Noble, Steuben and DeKalb Counties in Indiana.

Forecasters say highs today will reach the mid 90’s, with heat index values between 100 and 105 degrees. The heat could significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, specifically for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

The National Weather Service is reminding the public to monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. To help beat the heat, drink plenty of fluids, especially water and fruit juices; stay in an air conditioned room; limit your outdoor activities and if you are outdoors for work or play, stay out of the sun as much as possible and take frequent breaks.

Also remember to check on your relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
