The National Weather Service says a dramatic increase in heat and humidity is still on track for Tuesday and Wednesday.
An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for the area through Wednesday evening.
Forecasted Heat Index values will be above 100 degrees in many areas on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Heat Index is a measure of the apparent temperatures when both the heat and humidity is combined. When air becomes more humid the evaporative cooling effect from our sweat is reduced, making one feel it is hotter than the actual air temperature.
Be sure to use air conditioning if possible, avoid exertion, and drink plenty of fluids to stay safe during this upcoming heat spell.
