Wood Burning Stove Leads to Destruction of Girard Twp Pole Barn

GIRARD TOWNSHIP, MI – A wood burning stove is being listed as the cause of a Saturday morning fire which destroyed a pole barn.

Firefighters in Branch County were called to 1061 Bell Road in Girard Township where fire was reported at 929 AM. The Coldwater Fire Department arrived first to find a pole barn with heavy fire and smoke throughout the entire structure.

The fire was out after roughly an hour and crews remained on scene until 12:25 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The estimated damages to the property are $150,000.

No injuries were reported.

Coldwater Firefighters were assisted by the Union City and Tekonsha Fire Departments, the Branch County Sheriffs Department, Lifecare Ambulance, Branch County Victims Assistance Team and Consumers Energy.
