BUTLER, IN – Authorities say that two people were hurt in a crash just south of Butler this week.

Reports indicate Derrick Cordial, age 39 of Auburn, was driving north on County 59 in his 2005 Ford Escape when Elizabeth Burress, age 20 of Fort Wayne, disregarded a stop sign when leaving Steel Dynamics Industries. Her vehicle proceeded to cross the road when it struck the Ford.

Both vehicles slid into the ditch on the northeast side of the intersection. The incident happened just before 7 a.m. Monday morning.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department says that Cordial complained of neck, arm and leg pain. Burress complained of hip pain.

They were both taken by ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Authorities say a four-year-old in Burress’s vehicle was not hurt.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene and were totaled.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Parkview EMS and the Butler Fire Department.
