STURGIS – The boil water advisory issued on Monday for a Sturgis neighborhood has been lifted.
Sturgis Assistant City Manager Andrew Kuk (cook) says samples taken throughout the day on Tuesday, March 2 and Wednesday, March 3, have returned negative for coliform bacteria. These results mean that the drinking water quality meets the State of Michigan drinking water standards and there is no longer a need to boil water used for drinking or food preparation.
A water main break led to the City of Sturgis issuing a boil water advisory as a precautionary action due to a loss of pressure in the water distribution system. The boil water advisory was for residents who lived on Neuman Street from North Centreville Road to Second Street; First Street from Neuman Street to West Street and Second Street from Neuman Street to West Street.
Kuk says the City is sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused property owners. If you have any questions concerning your drinking water, please feel free to contact the Sturgis Department of Public Services at 269-651-2879.
