Three Injured in Sunday Crash

GARRETT, IN - Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in DeKalb County on Sunday.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Tyler Likens, age 17 of Auburn, was traveling east on State Road 8 when he noticed his vehicle drifting over the road's center line. Reports indicate slick road conditions caused Likens to lose control and hit a Ford F-150 head on.

Authorities say Gerald Kelly, age 59 of Lafayette (Indiana) was the driver of the truck.

Likens was not injured; however, two passengers in his vehicle, as well as the Kelly, the driver of the truck, were transported to local hospitals. Their injuries were reportedly not life threatening.

Both vehicles were totaled as a result of the crash.

Assisting the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department was Pakview DeKalb EMS and the Garrett Fire Department.
