US27 Southern Allen County Road Closure & Power Outage Update

FORT WAYNE, IN - Regarding the medical emergency incident information that was released on Sunday August 16th, the following updated information is now available for release.

The electrical contractor that suffered injuries during this incident has been identified as Trey David Culley, 26, of Lebanon, Indiana.
Mr. Culley was in the bucket of a boom truck attempting to raise overhead power lines that were hanging lower than would allow for the load to safely travel under. It was during this manipulation of the overhead power lines that Mr. Culley was electrocuted.

Power lineman workers from Indiana & Michigan Power and Paulding Putnam Power companies were called to the scene to assist in the rescue of Mr. Culley. Once freed from the electrical lines, Mr. Culley was lowered to the ground, where paramedics and firefighters from the Poe Fire Department provided emergency medical assistance. Mr. Culley was transferred to a Samaritan helicopter staged nearby, then flown to Lutheran hospital for treatment. Mr. Culley's injuries were critical.
Mr. Culley currently remains hospitalized. His current medical condition is unknown.

There is no further information to release at this time.
