COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that Dr. Amy Acton will be stepping down as the Director of the Ohio Department of Health.
The governor said Dr. Acton told him she felt it was time for her to step down.
DeWine asked her to serve as his chief health advisor where she can continue to serve the people of Ohio.
Dr. Acton helped Governor DeWine earn glowing reviews for his pandemic response, where she became beloved for her expertise, but also loathed by some Ohioans, even being threatened for exercising her emergency powers. She played a highly public role in Ohio’s early and aggressive fight against coronavirus, appear daily on television screens during Governor DeWine’s updates.
