DeKalb County Sees Second COVID-19 Related Death

Officials with the DeKalb County Health Department released a statement on Thursday that reported the county’s second death associated with COVID-19.

The death is associated with an 82-year-old woman whose diagnosis was first confirmed Wednesday.

As of Thursday's release of case numbers throughout the state of Indiana, DeKalb County stands at 94 total cases, an increase of nine since the numbers were released on Wednesday.

All nine of the new patients are reported to be recovering at home. Their ages range from 15-50, with seven of them age 34 or younger. The woman who died was only the fifth of DeKalb County’s patients who was reported to have been hospitalized.

DeKalb County’s only other COVID-19 death was a 65-year-old man who died back on April 14th while being hospitalized in Fort Wayne.
