Angola High School Senior Prom Details Announced
Wednesday, June 3, 2020

Graduating Angola High School Seniors, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, sadly have had to accept cancelled Spring sports seasons and end-of-year music concerts, virtual learning for the last months of their high school career, an email-version of their Senior Awards Banquet, and a scaled-back and socially-distanced Graduation Ceremony.

But a group of Senior parents, with the generous support numerous community members and organizations, have worked to assure these students will have one rite of passage that they will never forget. The details have finally been announced and students can now register for their tickets for The Unbreakable Class of 2020: The Senior Prom that Almost Wasn’t.

In the event themed "The Roaring 20s,” chosen for the Senior Prom, the event will be Friday, July 31, 2020 at the elegant Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in Auburn. The Museum has generously donated their venue, security, and event setup.

Valet parking will be provided by the Prom Committee volunteers. The Grand March will kick off the evening at 6:00 pm where students will promenade across the outdoor stage area adjacent to the museum (weather permitting). Attendees will then proceed to the Ballroom to feast on a pasta bar catered by 6 Autumns Food & Spirits of Angola.

Multiple professional photographers have volunteered their time to form a “Paparazzi” throughout the museum, including at the Grand March, the sweeping staircase, a photo booth and among the automobiles, as well as candids throughout the evening. These pictures will be available for students to download within a few days after the prom at no cost.

High Voltage Deejay Services will play popular music and requested songs for dancing on the spacious ballroom floor. Games & prizes, a prom court with King & Queen, Senior Superlatives, and a decadent dessert bar will add to the evening’s fun. This will be complemented by a Gourmet Coffee Bar, catered by Jeremiah’s in Auburn, where attendees can order up their favorite hot or cold beverage.

All details of the Prom are now available on the website, angolaprom2020.com. Seniors need to go to the website to register themselves and their guest and cast their nominations for Prom Court and Superlatives. There is no charge for the tickets, thanks to the many in-kind donations and the funds currently being raised to cover event costs.

While the Prom Committee has been able to get many vendors to volunteer their services, there is still significant monetary costs associated with this event, which would not be possible without community support. There are two ways to contribute: directly at Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Angola (specify Angola Prom 2020) or online through the Angola Prom 2020 website.
