Downtown Angola Protest Remains Peaceful Sunday
Monday, June 1, 2020

While protests in Indiana's bigger cities like Indianapolis and Fort Wayne turned hostile, one right in our own backyard remained predominately calm as Sunday afternoon about 15 people gathered at Angola's Public Square.

The group was on hand to voice their opposition to the killings of black people at the hands of police, a situation that has once again come to the forefront following the May 25th killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Floyd died after pleading for air as an officer pressed a knee into his neck. The officer has been charged with third degree murder.

The group of protesters were out on the Public Square from about 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening, voicing their opposition to violence, holding signs in front of the Steuben County Courthouse.
