The committee of people who plan one of Steuben County’s biggest yearly events has been awarded a top honor.
The Angola Balloons Aloft committee has won the Indiana Best Festival Award at the annual Indiana Indiana Tourism Conference. Angola Mayor Richard Hickman praised Walt and Marsha Drewes who started the festival, retired Angola City Police Officer Tim Crooks who has been involved with the festival from the beginning, and June Julien the Executive Director of the Steuben County Tourism Bureau.
Crooks is the new director of the annual event.
Angola Balloons Aloft 2020 is set for Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11. A Sunday morning flight is also set for July 12.
