Brief Dose of Winter Weather Before Soggy Conditions This Weekend
Wednesday, January 8, 2020

A chance of flurries with a slight chance of snow showers this morning in the tri-state area is expected and into the afternoon as well. Flurries will taper off as the day goes on, with conditions becoming mostly sunny during the afternoon, with highs only reaching into the mid 20 degree range accompanied with winds from 10 to 20 mph, and gusts as high as 30 mph.

While snowfall is not expected to hamper road travel plans, this weekend's predicted rainfall may do so as the National Weather Service is calling for steady rain beginning early Thursday evening, which will also be accompanied with warmer temperatures for a few days at least with highs getting up into the 50 degree range in some areas. While the soggy conditions are expected to last all the way through the weekend, a wintry mix expected in some areas Saturday Night and into Sunday as temperatures drop back down.

The steady rain and chance at wintry mix may lead to area roadways to not only flood, but may also become slick as temperatures towards the end of the weekend will drop back down with highs in the mid 30s, and lows in the 20s.
