Bus Safety Blitz Still In Full Effect
Thursday, January 2, 2020

A bus safety blitz at the start of the current school year resulted in citations for 453 stop arm violations.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced the results of the overtime
patrols conducted by 40 law enforcement agencies who received grants.

A total of 2,675 citations and 1,430 warnings were issued during the two-
month period. Of those, 1,239 involved speeding.

Indiana Criminal Justice Institute Director Devon McDonald said one critical part of the program was the collaboration between schools, bus operators, and law enforcement. He says together they identified problem areas and routes.

ICJI plans to start accepting applications for another round of grant funding early next week.
