DeKalb Humane Society to Celebrate the Construction of a New Animal Shelter
Thursday, December 19, 2019

The DeKalb County Humane Society will host a groundbreaking ceremony for their new 6,000 square foot shelter to be constructed near Auburn, Indiana. The ceremonial event, scheduled for Friday, December 20th at 2:00 P.M. at the intersection of County Road 11A and County Road 56, just west of the I-69 intersection, will celebrate years of planning and fundraising, and begin the construction of a facility designed to care for the stray and temporarily un-housed animals in DeKalb County.

Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2020, and conclude in the Fall of the same year. Currently the Humane Society operates out of a facility located on SR6, just west of Butler. Upon completion of the new facility, the existing shelter building is expected to be demolished.
