Wednesday, December 18, 2019

Two Kendallville residents died when their car failed to stop for a stop sign and drove under a semi tractor-trailer near Bremen Monday morning.

Mashall County Coroner John Grolich identified the driver as 38-year-old
Mark Ley Jr. and the passenger as 36-year-old Krystal Smith. Grolich says they died on impact.

Indiana State Police say the car driven by Ley was southbound on Miami Trail and failed to stop at the intersection of U-S 6. It was trapped under the trailer and dragged about 300 feet west of the intersection.

The truck driver – 36-year-old Valery Ryshkevich of Chicago – was not
injured. The crash happened around 11:19 a-m and closed U-S 6 for a time.
