Safe Haven Baby Box Comes to Angola
By: Sheila McCrea - Monday, November 18, 2019

The Angola Fire Department will celebrate being the location for the 20th install of a Safe Haven Baby Box in Indiana.

A Baby Box is a safety device provided for under state’s Safe Haven Law and legally permits a mother in crisis to safely, securely, and anonymously surrender her unwanted newborn.

Angola's box will be dedicated today. The public is invited to attend the "Blessing Of The Box", which will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Fire Station.

City officials say that they hope no mother is ever in the position to have to utilize the Safe Haven Baby Box, but they are honored that the city, along with the Angola Fire Department and all city of Angola public safety personnel are able to provide the service if needed.
